“ Wonderful food and service....i have not been here in years but it's better than I remember. ”
“ It's not Chicago style, but boy was it fresh & tasty!!! while on the wine tour, the guide took us to this beautiful area downtown Sonoma (I'm assuming). There were countless eatery options, but hey, you can almost rest assured when it comes to pizza place, they'll be something you like! Mary's was a perfect choice for us! The food was delicious and Hubs got to watch a game, lol! Win-win!! ”
“ I've grown up going to Mary's! My fav thing when I was little was getting the free bread sticks! Not sure if they do that anymore?! Anyway, the pizza here is always consistent, it's not my fav, but I'll eat it. But I have always been a HUGE fan of their house salad and their home made dressings (ranch, Italian and blue cheese)-yes please! If I'm there at lunch, I'll get the slice and salad combo with a soda-it's filling and very affordable! I picked up a large order for a Dr office, I called ahead and requested for it to be ready by a certain time, but asked if mine could be ready sooner-which it was! The service was good and the guy even helped me out to my car, which was very sweet! Everything I ordered was there, so the office were happy campers! ”
“ I can't believe I have never reviewed Mary's! It's a Sonoma staple! I have been many times over the years, and they have always been consistent. Great service, breadsticks, salads, and pizza's. Great for families, work meetings or girls night out! They have gluten free and high protein options, so it's a great place for groups, something for everyone! An excellent place for a casual lunch or dinner. ”
“ We decided to take a spur of the moment trip from Santa Rosa to Mary's on the square in Sonoma and were very happy with the decision. The drive was beautiful for the trip over and downtown Sonoma was alive with people. Mary's was busy for the Saturday night and had us seated easily upon arrival. We had wonderful interactions with all the staff we came in contact with and their service was friendly and professional. The food was delicious and the leftovers for carryout was easily managed. Since our trip we have also done a few to-go take home orders and their food is always good and holds up to the travel. Would recommend to anyone looking food good food and a friendly atmosphere. ”
“ Sonoma is a tourist town but fortunately, Mary's caters to the locals. One of my favorite places to get lunch. They are known for their pizzas but I prefer their pasta dishes because the sauces are great. The restaurant is nice inside and the staff provides exceptional service. ”
“ Dropped by Mary's late after a full-day volleyball tournament nearby, and we were definitely hungry. The staff were welcoming, along with being prompt and friendly in their service, including being quickly helpful after we spilled one of our water cups and checking in throughout the dinner. The restaurant had a warm, down home, historic feeling which was great. The best parts of the dinner were: - Warm sourdough bread with whipped butter - Mary's signature Italian-style salad which included different textures and tastes, and was a generous portion - Mary's giant meatball which was large, tender and flavorful - Pretty long cocktail, wine and beer list Things that we thought could have been better: - The fried calimari felt underseasoned for our tastes - The spaghetti meat sauce was a bit watery - The gnocchi was not as tender and fluffy as we were hoping Overall, it was a solid experience, and we definitely left full! ”
“ My husband and I were passing through Sonoma one evening back in June and worked up an appetite. We hadn't planned to stop and didn't want to spend on a fancy dinner that day, so Mary's Pizza Shack caught our eye in terms of price point. We hadn't had Italian food in a while and I was craving pasta, so we decided to try it. Upon walking in, we loved the high ceilings and the homestyle feel of the establishment. It was busy, but we were able to get a table relatively quickly. I took a brief look at the regular menu, but was drawn to the seasonal delights. I decided to go with the lemon shrimp linguini, and my husband went with the Mary's classic lasagna. Both of us opted for soup instead of salad, and chose the minestrone. It was a bit of a wait to get our food, but we didn't mind as we weren't in a rush. The minestrone was well-seasoned and flavorful, and had savory pieces of meat. The veggies were not overcooked. It was your classic minestrone and the perfect start to our meal. My linguini was the first to arrive, and shortly after came the lasagna. The linguini had six juicy shrimp and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the kick of spice from the chili flakes, and decided not to add extra. The flavor of the dish was well-balanced, but presentation-wise, it was missing the grilled lemon as stated in the menu. However, I personally didn't feel like the dish needed the lemon, but if I returned to Mary's, I'd like to see how the lemon would change the flavor profile. I didn't get a chance to try my husband's lasagna, but he gave it solid remarks and whatever little I got to savor of the remaining meat sauce, I enjoyed. Halfway through our dinner we realized that our server still hadn't given us the sourdough bread that was supposed to come with my husband's meal, as clearly stated in the menu. We asked for it and it arrived just in time for us to soak up the leftover sauces from our dishes. It was also perfectly warm and crunchy while being soft on the inside. Overall, Mary's Pizza Shack is a good option if you don't want to spend top dollar on the other restaurants in downtown Sonoma, and next time I'd like to try their pizza slices if I want a quick bite. Keep in mind, however, that I have had plenty of top-notch pasta from Half Moon Bay to Monterey, and while Mary's hits the spot, don't expect the same level of quality or depth of flavor in Mary's pasta dishes as those from dedicated pasta restaurants who make their pasta in-house. Again I would love to try their pizza the next time we visit Sonoma. ”
“ This is my kind of pizza shack! Clearly we didn't stop in for atmosphere, with its wide open dining area and very high ceiling, the sound really bounces around, but when it comes to food this is where you want to be. The open faced meatball sandwich is truly a meal! Those enormous house made meatballs are just the right size for the fresh sourdough bread, add the fresh melted mozzarella and red sauce and your in heaven!. Apparently sandwiches are in their wheelhouse, they also serve one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. Layered cheeses with a bit of sauce squeezed in between the grilled sourdough bread was the best I have ever had. Add a side salad and your set. Although the server seemed to take a while to warm up, overall the service was good. This is a great place for lunch. Cheers! ”
